Description

Custom Rubber-Bonded Anti-Vibration Components

KOK manufactures custom rubber-bonded anti-vibration components for OEM customers requiring elastomer-based vibration isolation or damping in non-standard geometries.

These components are custom rubber-metal parts, produced to customer drawings or defined functional specifications, where standard rubber bushings or catalogue isolators are not suitable.

Component Definition

Custom rubber-bonded anti-vibration components are elastomer components bonded to metal inserts or carriers, designed to provide defined stiffness, damping, or vibration isolation under mechanical load.

They are typically used where:

  • Geometry is application-specific
  • Load direction or stiffness requirements are non-uniform
  • Standard rubber bushings do not meet interface or performance requirements

KOK produces these parts as custom bonded elastomer components, not as standardised products.

Construction & Materials

KOK manufactures custom anti-vibration components using rubber-to-metal bonding, with constructions including:

  • Rubber bonded to steel or other metal inserts
  • Elastomer components with integrated metal carriers
  • Compact bonded assemblies with constrained or directional movement

Elastomer compounds are selected based on customer requirements for:

  • Stiffness and load-deflection behaviour
  • Fatigue resistance under cyclic loading
  • Operating temperature range
  • Compatibility with oils, fuels, or environmental exposure

Design Input & Design for Manufacturability (DFM)

Custom anti-vibration components are manufactured based on customer-provided drawings or specifications.

KOK provides Design for Manufacturability (DFM) feedback, reviewing designs for:

  • Bonding feasibility
  • Manufacturable geometry
  • Tolerance realism
  • Process stability in volume production

DFM input is limited to manufacturability and production robustness and does not alter the customer’s functional design intent.

In-House Testing & Validation

KOK performs in-house testing and validation of custom rubber-bonded components in accordance with customer requirements.

Testing is used to verify:

  • Material and bonding behaviour
  • Durability under defined load or vibration conditions
  • Consistency prior to series production

Testing capability supports development and reduces risk during production launch.

Manufacturing & Supply Capability

All tooling for custom rubber-bonded anti-vibration components is developed in-house.

Manufacturing processes are controlled to ensure:

  • Consistent rubber-to-metal bonding
  • Dimensional repeatability
  • Stable performance across production volumes

KOK supports both development quantities and long-term series production for OEM customers.

Scope Clarification

Custom anti-vibration components are not catalogue products and are not positioned as aftermarket replacement parts. They are produced for OEM applications requiring custom rubber-bonded solutions.
