KOK Oil Seals

Types of Oil Seal Materials

We have invested decades into developing Oil Seal materials that meet our customers’ demanding requirements. KOK’s expertise is in developing materials that improve the longevity and performance of our customers’ products.

Project Requirements

After understanding your project requirements and design goals, our team will work with you to determine the Oil Seal material specifications best suited to your application.

Before producing your Oil Seals, we evaluate requirements such as the following:

  • Where will the seal be used?
  • How will the seal be used?
  • What environmental conditions will the seal be exposed to?
  • What will it be sealing – oil or grease?
  • Will the seal require rotary or reciprocating function?
  • What is the maximum speed of the shaft?
  • Will there be pressure in the chamber?
  • And more…

Compound Selection

Once we determine the operating requirements, we then determine the material to use.

Material quality is one of the most important factors. The most suitable rubber compound, metal and spring must each be selected with care. None of these components can be overlooked.

Our compounds are proprietary mixtures of elastomers and other ingredients (in vulcanised or un-vulcanised states), including:

  • Polymers
  • Reinforcing Agents
  • Curing or Vulcanizing Agents
  • Plasticizers
  • Accelerator
  • Anti-oxidants
  • Antiozonants
  • Anti-rads
