In the late 1950s, Shu Yuan Hsu was a man with a passion for innovation and a mind that preceded his surroundings. His inquisitive nature and eye for perfection led him to establish the first company in Taiwan to develop the Oil Seal.
Many of the early machines used were designed by Shu Yuan Hsu and some still prove to be the most efficient and precise methods of getting things done.
As a contemporary, to Shu Yuan Hsu, concepts of innovation, integrity, creating win-win situations and continuously improving were held equally in high regard from the very beginning. KOK went on to be the first in the industry to be accredited with both ISO9001 and QS9000 certificates in Taiwan, and today, KOK is the first choice of numerous OE manufacturers around the world.
Coming from a small fishing village in rural Taiwan and working hard from his days as an agricultural cultivator, tradesman, a pioneer and business owner, Shu Yuan Hsu’s strong convictions with regards to innovation, business and business integrity were ingrained. Today, they are the absolute core upon which KOK operates.
KOK stands for Kyo Oil-Seal Kaisha, a Japanese translation meaning the Hsu family Oil Seal Company.
Since 1963, KOK built a solid name for itself in the local market. It was quickly adopted as the first choice for polymeric solutions in the Automobile and Motorcycle OEM markets in Taiwan and our craft had been perfected to the point of being an international contender among industry leaders.
As it became apparent, there was a demand in the international arena for KOK products to which we responded by strategically establishing facilities in growing markets. As the KOK name earned its trust from long standing customers, the company additionally entered the field of manufacturing complementing components, motivated by customer demand.
Over the course of investments, expansions and establishing facilities around the world, KOK has continued to learn, gain experience, develop and evolve. And this is how the world evolves.
